Breadth does not mean shallow. It means you have more surface area for insights to stick. When you understand both the engineering constraints and the product pressures and the security risks, you make better decisions in all three domains.
Specialists optimize locally. Generalists optimize globally.

Here is what surprised me: skills from different domains do not add — they multiply.
Understanding system design made me a better product manager. Understanding user psychology made me a better engineer. Understanding threat modeling made me better at both.

What this means for your career
The market is pricing this wrong right now. Specialists are rewarded for credentials. Generalists are rewarded for outcomes.
If you are early in your career: go broad deliberately. Pick a second domain. Then a third. The connective tissue between them is where the real leverage lives.
The question is not specialist vs generalist. It is: are you building a knowledge graph, or a knowledge silo?
